Based in Falkirk, Scotland, Joy is a highly experienced OT working in many different settings for over 20 years. She specialises in Housing & Equipment, working with both adult and paediatric clients to assess their needs in the home environment. Joy has expertise working with children with learning difficulties, Down’s syndrome, cerebral palsy, and autism. She advises families on suitable equipment aids and home adaptations to meet a child’s short and long-term needs. Joy also works with adults, often with needs relating to arthritis, Parkinson’s, and orthopaedic injuries or conditions. She similarly recommends aids and equipment designed to enhance a client’s independence and safety at home.
Joy has an extensive product knowledge, from small equipment aids to larger home adaptations such as bathroom modifications or stair lifts. She is also trained as a moving and handling trainer to support families and other health care professionals with client care. Joy is also experienced in providing Blue badge advice for client’s and their families.
Joy has worked internationally, utilising her experience to help set up occupational therapy programmes in other countries. She is also committed to regularly developing her product knowledge and clinical reasoning.
