Based in Tyne and Wear, Sandra is a Paediatric OT visiting children across the North East. She has over 15 years’ experience, visiting children of all ages in both home and school settings. Sandra has worked in acute and community environments, supporting multi-disciplinary teams with a wide range of conditions. She is experienced supporting those with cerebral palsy, severe learning difficulties, developmental coordination disorder, developmental delay, Down’s syndrome, and brain injury.
Sandra delivers comprehensive assessments, focusing on every child’s individual needs and helping them to develop fundamental skills. She works with children to help with their fine motor skills, dexterity, and visual perception. This enables them to engage with learning and carry out self-care tasks such as dressing and eating, as well as leading to taking part in leisure activities. Sandra is especially skilled in handwriting, co-ordination, and splinting.
Completing her MSc in Developmental Disorders in 2019, Sandra researched the use of Kinesio tape on upper limb function. She is also a member of the Independent Practice specialist section at the Royal College of Occupational Therapists.
