Heidi qualified as an occupational therapist in 1991, specialising in neurological rehabilitation early on in her career. She visits clients in their home environment, travelling around the South West of England, as well seeing clients in Wales. Heidi has completed various postgraduate training courses to keep her knowledge up to date, including upper limb rehabilitation and functional electrical stimulation.

Heidi works with adults with various neurological conditions including Multiple sclerosis, stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal injury and multiple pathology including neuro-psychiatric conditions. She has gained expertise in a range of settings across acute, inpatients and community based working. She also gained experience and training at the prestigious National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, London, where she became a qualified AMPS (Assessment of Motor and Process Skills) assessor.

Carrying out functional and neurological assessments with clients in their home, Heidi works with family, carers and other professionals to maximise the client's overall function and independence. She uses a range of treatments and interventions, including upper limb therapy, cognitive strategies, Bobath moving and handling skills and fatigue management. She also prescribes specialist seating, offering expert advice and guidance on postural management.

Heidi has co-published a paper on 'The management of fatigue in MS' (BJOT, 1998), as well as being an active member of the special interest group for neurology.

Heidi is just one of our nationwide network of therapists.
