Treating both adults and children, Fiona specialises in the areas of moving & handling and housing & equipment. Since qualifying as an occupational therapist, she has completed training courses to enhance her clinical practice, including accreditation as a Train the trainer in manual handling. Fiona is based in Staffordshire and visits clients and their families at home, including areas of Derbyshire, Warwickshire and the West Midlands.
Fiona has worked in a variety of clinical settings, including working for the NHS, local authority, corporate businesses, case management and in private practice. She has treated individuals with various physical and mental health conditions, including musculoskeletal, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, anxiety and depression. Fiona has also provided OT to children, including babies and toddlers, supporting them with conditions such as autism and various learning difficulties.
Using evidence based practice, Fiona works collaboratively with clients to identify meaningful goals and help them reach their maximum potential. She prescribes specialist equipment, including hoists and complex seating, as well as offering advice on minor housing adaptations. Fiona also supports family members to learn safe manual handling techniques and develop plans for them to follow.
Fiona has additional skills in coaching, solution focused therapy and mindfulness which she uses in her clinical practice, encouraging her client to be engaged in their rehabilitation process. To ensure these skills are updated, Fiona attends conferences and exhibitions, as well as maintaining her memberships at the Vocational Rehabilitation Society and the Case Management Society UK (CSMUK).
