Chia qualified as an occupational therapist in 2009 in Taiwan and has specialised in the field of neurology, working with adults and children who have sustained traumatic brain injury, spinal injuries, progressive neurological conditions, acquired brain injuries (including stroke). She has recently also been working with young adults with profound and multiple learning disability and neurodivergent conditions.

Chia is interested in cognitive rehabilitation and upper limb rehabilitation offering a wide array of assessments, including posture and seating, physical, sensory, cognitive, and functional evaluations, as well as assistive technology assessments. Her expertise encompasses a wide spectrum of assessments, from risk and seating evaluations to specialised measures such as SADI, OGQ, ARMA, and others. She conducts comprehensive PDOC assessments using WHIM/CRS-R, guiding sensory stimulation programs and providing educational support to families and junior staff.

Chia has developed her expertise while working overseas, within the NHS, in educational settings and in the independent health-care sector as an occupational therapist.
