Alison is an experienced Paediatric Occupational Therapist, treating children with a wide range of needs and conditions at home, school, and nursery. Alison covers a client base across the West Midlands, including Coventry, Northampton, and Birmingham. She assesses and treats children with difficulties relating to daily living skills, gross and fine motor skills, handwriting, balance and coordination. Her experience is particularly relevant with, but not limited to, conditions such as cerebral palsy, spinal muscular atrophy, ASD, Down’s syndrome, epilepsy, and dyspraxia.

Alison is driven to help children develop confidence and independence, through performing daily living and self-care tasks such as dressing, teeth cleaning, and using cutlery. Alison is an expert in fine motor skills, covering hand and finger movements such as doing up buttons, shoelaces and zips, using scissors, and handwriting. She focuses on improving hand strength and hand-eye coordination. In particular, Alison conducts handwriting assessments and treatments, evaluating a child’s pencil grip, hand strength, dexterity, and level of tiredness and concentration completing the task. Alison will also consider seating position, and core and shoulder stability. She can recommend positioning or seating aids if required.

Alison assesses requirements for specialist chairs and beds, hoists, and bathroom adaptations, ensuring a child can move safely around the home, reducing the risk of falls and injury. She also has extensive experience helping with DFG Assessments to provide additional support to families.

Alison is just one of our nationwide network of therapists.
