What makes an OT Practice therapist?

We are always looking for outstanding occupational therapists to join our team. If you have at least 5 years post-qualifying experience, the last 3 in your chosen clinical specialism then you could be just who we need.

As an expert in your field, you will be HCPC registered and preferably a member of RCOT and a relevant clinical special-interest group. It goes without saying that our clients expect all of our therapists to have their own professional liability insurance and an enhanced DBS, but we can help advise you if you don’t already have these in place.

We are looking for therapists who are thoroughly professional and offer a holistic approach to client-focussed care. As representatives of The OT Practice, we have an expectation that every member of our therapist team has a smart personal appearance, excellent verbal and written communication, effective organisation and time management, sound IT skills, and most importantly has the energy and enthusiasm to be a great occupational therapist.

All OT Practice therapists must be:

  1. Qualified for at least 5 years
  2. Registered with HCPC
  3. Enhanced DBS checked
  4. A specialist in their chosen field of OT for at least 3 years
  5. Fully insured under their own policy
  6. Able to dedicate at least 1 working day a week

Next steps

Pre-qualification & application

Before completing our online application form we ask you a few basic pre-qualifying questions to make sure you are eligible to apply, such as how long you have been qualified, that you are HCPC registered and that you are eligible to work in the UK. If you can answer ‘yes’ to these questions we will email you a link to our online application system. The application process will require some prior preparation such as getting together scanned versions of relevant documentation, like your HCPC registration. The application form will capture information such as your personal details, details about your clinical qualifications, your specialist areas of OT, and your experience. You are also able to upload a copy of your CV.

Report writing assessment

Providing your application is successful, we will initiate a report writing exercise as part of the selection process. Report writing is a key aspect of private practice, we will be looking for high quality reports that will meet the expectations of our clients and referrers. You will be provided with a report template for guidance with the structure. This will be reviewed and you will be advised on the outcome of your application.

Interview

Upon successful review of your report, we will invite you to an interview selection day to get to know a little more about you and your specialist skills. This can be in person at our offices or via Skype, depending on your location. Typically interviews last an hour during which we will ask in-depth clinical questions to help us gauge your experience and skill level. This is also your opportunity to ask us questions.

Registration

If successful at the interview stage, the next step is getting you registered. Our HR team will send a welcome pack by email explaining what we need to get you fully on-boarded. Included will be your Associate Agreement and once we have a signed copy returned we will set up your access to our case management system, provide your personalised OT Practice email address and send out your registration pack including your OT Practice ID card.

First referral

Once you are fully on-boarded you are ready to go! When a case comes up that is near you and matches the skills needed, you will get a call from one of our Client Managers. They will discuss the case with you to confirm your availability and skills required. If you are happy to proceed they will formally offer the case to you via our case management system and then you are ready to organise your assessment with the client.

Answer these 4 questions to confirm eligibility and we will send you the application form for selection.

Are you a fully qualified Occupational Therapist with HCPC registration?

Do you have at least 5 years post qualifying experience?
