Private practice with greater certainty: NEW placement opportunities

For many occupational therapists, private practice is appealing because it offers the freedom to shape your working life: choosing how you approach your work, using your professional judgement and building a portfolio career around your interests and commitments. Yet taking that step can also bring uncertainty about where the next piece of work will come from. Our placement opportunities offer a different way forward, combining the autonomy of independent practice with the reassurance of guaranteed income for an agreed placement.

A different approach to associate work

Rather than receiving individual referrals across a wide geographical area, you will usually be based at one or two sites during the day. This creates a more predictable rhythm, reduces unnecessary travel and makes it easier to plan your time, while preserving the flexibility and clinical autonomy that attract many therapists to private practice.

Placements give you an agreed commitment of work and income, without taking away your independence as a clinician. In some roles, you will still retain control over how you organise and deliver your work within the requirements of the placement, bringing your own experience, approach and professional reasoning to the people you support.

Build a portfolio career that works for you

A placement can form a reliable foundation within a varied professional portfolio. You may choose to combine it with casework, another employed or independent role. It can also be a valuable route into private practice for therapists who want to develop their independent career gradually, with greater financial predictability.

Although you work independently, you are also connected to The OT Practice’s established national therapist network, with access to clinical and operational support from a team that understands the realities of private practice. It is a model designed to give you both professional freedom and a dependable framework.
