MSc Health Through Occupation
Rachel is a Paediatric OT based in Shrewsbury, visiting clients across the West Midlands and Wales, including Birmingham, Liverpool, and Wolverhampton. She provides specialist assessments and treatments for children and their families in both home and school settings. Rachel specialises in Sensory Integration and autism, but works with children with a wide range of conditions and needs including, Down’s syndrome, learning difficulties, ADHD, and anxiety disorders.
Throughout her career, Rachel has acquired a strong skillset to support with a child’s development. These include Makaton training, using signs and gestures alongside speech to enhance communication, and motivational interviewing. Rachel focuses on enhancing a child’s self-care skills so that they can act independently at home, this includes activities such as dressing, washing, and feeding. Rachel also works with a child to support community access and social integration, aiming to ensure that a child has all of the opportunities available to them at school and in the wider community.
Rachel is a member of The Royal College of Occupational Therapists and regularly completes additional qualifications to enhance her knowledge and skillset.
