I have predominately worked for the NHS, although more latterly working within the independent sector, supporting those going through the litigation process.

I started my career completing a mixed rotation in a large teaching hospital. This included working within acute mental health, housing adaptations, stroke and neurological rehabilitation, and general medicine. In 2007 I moved into a senior position within a pilot, early supported discharge stroke service. This enabled me to develop my skills in community working and early rehabilitation, whilst developing my cognitive and physical assessment and treatment skills. Following this I moved into a neurological rehabilitation team, working within the community, with a diverse range of conditions. In 2013 I took up a role within a neurological rehabilitation unit, working with traumatic and acquired brain injury and progressive disorders. The unit also catered for those who were ventilated and in prolonged disorders of unconsciousness and this time enabled me to develop the skills needed to care for this very specialist client group. I was also able to see clients with multi trauma, such as those with brachial plexus injury.

For the last five years I have been occupational therapy professional lead for an NHS Trust, alongside working in Neurological Out Patients. My professional lead role has given me the opportunity to work with a wide breadth of services and has honed my leadership skills. Clinically, I support a small team of occupational therapists, to provide a holistic and comprehensive occupational therapy service. I have also worked within the independent sector, supporting clients with acquired and traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury. This has been a brilliant opportunity to work with clients to their full potential.
