Sophy

Sophy is a highly skilled Occupational Therapist who specialises in Neurological Rehabilitation and Brain Injury. Based in Northampton, Sophy covers a large area across the Midlands including Milton Keynes, Coventry, Kettering, and Bedford. She supports clients with a wide range of neurological conditions including stroke and traumatic brain injury, as well as broader mental health needs such as anxiety and depression. She has practiced in numerous areas both within the private and public sector of the NHS.

Sophy’s specialist skills within Neuro Rehabilitation include the assessment of upper limb function and providing intensive rehabilitation to facilitate engagement in functional activities. She can provide the assessment and intervention of activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and kitchen tasks. She places a particular focus on functional cognitive strategies that can be utilised to compensate for difficulties with attention, memory, organisational skills, planning, and problem solving.

She also has an extensive background in Mental Health, including experience in an acute hospital setting to support patients with complex mental health and social needs. She provided informed packages of care which included liaison with social services and housing authorities where required. She also developed expertise on anxiety management, goal setting, and relationship building. Another particular area of interest for Sophy is Vocational Rehabilitation, where she has experience coordinating volunteer placements and assessing a client's return to work.
